One of Bill Laswell’s many, many, many projects, Praxis is an experimental rock band that has featured a rotating cast of players. This iteration features Laswell on bass, Bryan Mantia (“Brain”) on drums, Buckethead on guitar, and Mix Master Mike and DJ Disk on samples & turntables.
Praxis released Warszawa in 1999. It leads off with a 21-minute “turntable epic” called “Initiation,” which is a pretty apt description of the track. It’s not among Laswell’s most accessible albums, but it does reward persistence.

Strongly recommend checking this out. Buckethead has some searing moments on the album, and Laswell keeps the bass flowing. Well worth a listen, but give it some time and attention.
